Raz Kids is a part of Learning A-Z. So, Raz Kids uses Learning A-Z Text Leveling System which uses subjective (qualitative) and objective (quantitative) leveling criteria to measure text complexity. Qualitative measures are text attributes which can only be evaluated by a human reader. The measures include several factors like the author’s aim, meaning level, text structure, convention of language, clarity of language, demands of knowledge, and the complexity and importance of visual devices. Quantitative measures are measurements of text statistically. These include factors like average sentence length, number of syllables per word, and the total number of different words.
